WHY COLLABORATION IS ‘THE NEW BLACK’ FOR ENTREPRENEURS

WHY COLLABORATION IS ‘THE NEW BLACK’ FOR ENTREPRENEURS

Being an entrepreneur can feel like a lonely journey particularly if you’re just starting out. You may have great ideas or a fantastic product you want to take to market but no real idea on the best strategy to take your business forward.

There are many traditional ways to market your business through social media channels like LinkedIn for example. However, with everyone taking the same approach, how do you get ahead of the game and create a clearer pathway to attract clients?

One simple solution: collaboration.

Collaborating with other aligned businesses or entrepreneurs could have huge benefits.

1. It Helps You Reach a Wider Audience

When you collaborate you effectively double your network and have a greater reach than working alone. This creates greater awareness of your brand and that of the person you are collaborating with.

2. You Have Someone To Brainstorm With

Not to be underestimated. If you pick the right person to collaborate with then your brainstorming sessions can really generate new levels of creativity and bouncing ideas of someone else is often much easier than thinking of ideas on your own.

Sharing information and ideas will widen your vision and help take your business to the next level.

3. You Can Create a Combined Offering to Take to Market

Aligning your skill set with that of your collaboration partner and creating a packaged offering can be seen as very attractive to potential clients.

For example, I am a personal branding photographer. I work with clients on how to create more impact online in their business. If they need a new website design to go with the portfolio of images I’ve created for them then no problem. I simply recommend them to the website designer and SEO expert I collaborate with.

4. You Have an Accountability Partner

Collaboration at its most basic level can take the form of mutual recommendation. However, where a more engaged form of collaboration takes place, it can also give you the benefit of accountability! There is nothing like giving each other a deadline to work towards to put a rocket up your trousers!

5. You Can Share Resources and Costs

Starting a business can be expensive.  As well as getting your website set up and your branding on point, you may have other essential costs to your business that you need to pay out to generate awareness of what you do.

Perhaps you’re running Facebook ads or attending networking events that have a monthly fee. There may also be product costs and so on.

By collaborating with someone else that compliments your business, you can where possible, share costs on things like advertising and digital marketing. A good example is where you may choose to run a course together and split the cost of promoting it.

6. You Can Attract More Clients

Effective collaboration involves playing to each others strengths and using each other’s knowledge and skill set to create a powerful alliance.

When such an alliance is formed, you are then ready to take your services or products to market together. You can also promote and sell the benefits of your combined offering which will in turn help you attract more clients, as put simply, you have more to offer!

7. You Can Share the Workload and Avoid Burnout

All entrepreneurs know how tough running a business can be. Working together and dividing up roles can help reduce feelings of overwhelm and boost productivity as you can get twice as much done with two of you working together. That’s twice as much content and double the amount of hours worked than if you were to go it alone. The results of which can lead to more revenue for the business!

Conclusion

So as you can see, collaboration really could be the way forward for your business. Particularly if you’re struggling on your own. So before you think of quitting because things get tough consider collaboration as a healthy alternative.

Have you used collaboration in your business? How has it benefited you?
