What if the everyday moments of your life held more insight than you realised?
Life is made up of small, repeated experiences. The conversations we replay. The habits we fall into. The things we keep putting off because we’re too busy, too tired, or not quite ready to look.
Like laundry left sitting in the basket, the emotional load doesn’t disappear when we ignore it. It simply waits and builds up. It often shows up as overwhelm, irritation, overthinking, people pleasing, or appearing “fine” while doing more than feels manageable.
It Starts With The Washing invites you to pause and get curious about what’s really shaping your life beneath the surface, instead of pushing through on autopilot.
The book unfolds in four stages, guiding you from awareness to alignment, one step at a time.
We begin with the pre-wash, seeing what’s really there beneath the surface.
Then we move to changing loads, creating a new cycle and shifting the patterns that keep showing up.
Handle with care explores the messy middle, where you learn to meet yourself with more compassion when life feels full.
Finally, freshly laundered is where it all comes together, living in alignment, not perfectly but with intention.

This book will help you:
- Spot the patterns that shape your days, decisions, and reactions.
- Make sense of change without forcing it, through small, intentional shifts.
- Stay steadier through uncertain or demanding seasons, without being so hard on yourself.
- Build a life that feels more aligned with who you are now, not who you think you should be.
It’s not about changing who you are. It’s about understanding yourself well enough to choose how you respond to life.

Why I wrote this book
This book was born out of lived experience and a growing awareness of how pressure, responsibility, and expectation can shape the way we move through life. Like many people, in the midst of work, family, ambition, and everyday demands, I found myself coping well on the surface while carrying more than felt sustainable underneath.
What changed things wasn’t a dramatic moment, but learning to pause and pay attention, especially in the everyday moments I’d normally rush past. The moments that showed me where my energy was going, where my limits were, and what I’d been expecting of myself without even realising.
It Starts With The Washing grew out of that process.
I wrote this book because those moments of awareness matter. They’re often where real change begins, not through overhaul, but through understanding, choice, and small, meaningful shifts.
It’s written with depth, warmth, and a natural sense of humour, so that readers find something that resonates and feels genuinely useful in their own lives.

A final note
I called this book It Starts With The Washing because feeling overwhelmed by my laundry was when something shifted for me. It was a small, unassuming catalyst that led me to reflect on the lessons often hidden in the most unassuming places.
For you, it may start with something else entirely. It could be a conversation, a moment of pause or a realisation that something needs attention.
This book offers practical, relatable reflections to help you recognise those moments, make sense of what they’re showing you, and begin engaging with your life in a more supportive way.
If you’re ready to see life through a wider lens, this is your invitation to begin.
